IMPORTANT NOTICE:
If you are applying for any of the Substance Abuse Counselor licenses after December 31, 2008, you must demonstrate completion of a substance abuse education program as defined in the Mental Health Professional Practice Act and the Substance Abuse Counselor Licensing Act Rules. For the criteria that the substance abuse education program must meet see Utah Code 58-60-502 (7) and Utah Admin. Code R156-60d-302a

Applicants who did not pass the ICRC/AODA Examination before January 1, 2009 will NOT be able to avoid the substance abuse education program requirement. This is the case even if a license application was received by DOPL prior to January 1, 2009.
